Why not treat the family to one of our best London Theatre Breaks.
As part of the RSC Winter Season, Boris Godunov comes to the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 15 November 2012 to 30 March 2013. Based on the play by Alexander Pushkin, this new adaptation by Adrian Mitchell was originally written in the 1820s in Russia during a period of political turmoil and has poignant echoes of Shakespeares Macbeth. Set in Moscow 1598, the play follows the tale of Boris Godunov who has reluctantly taken the throne in place of the great Tsar Ivan the Terrible who has recently died. Boris must face the rumours that he has secretly murdered the rightful heir, while remaining cautious of his this prodigal son whose presence draws closer and threatens to take revenge. This gripping production was Mitchell’s final project before his death in 2008. Michael Boyd will direct Boris Godunov for the Winter Season as his final production as Artistic Director of the RSC. Adjacent to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Swan Theatre which opened in 1986 is a favourite space for many actors, directors and audiences and is a key venue for many of the RSC performances during the Winter Season. Boris Godunov Theatre Breaks always includes tickets with hotel accommodation, and the number of tickets you request must be the same as the number of hotel guests. A great addition to our London Theatre Breaks selection.
