The re-imagining of a timeless fairy tale is set to grace the stage of Wales Millennium Centre this coming March, with a new production of Matthew Bournes Sleeping Beauty. From the 5th to the 9th of March 2013, guests on a Sleeping Beauty theatre break can expect to enjoy a fascinating gothic variation of this ballet classic, and a return to the stunning original music of Tchaicovsky following the success of well-loved masterpieces Swan Lake and Nutcracker! Opening in 1890, a time when fairies and vampires fed the imagination, this traditional tale sees the young heroine, Aurora, cursed to sleep for a hundred years, before jumping forward a century to the modern day. Anyone taking a Sleeping Beauty theatre break can look forward to seeing a time-honoured story of romance and true love being turned on its head for this dark and supernatural experience. The dazzling choreography of Bourne, a five time Olivier Award winner, along with the unmistakeable sound of Tchaicovsky create a haunting reproduction of this childhood favourite.
